What I Learned......

I learned that any action we do can change the way someone acts and can change their life. When we cheered on the challenger league game, they were encouraged and played harder. They smiled and were motivated to play. Also, the people that made it into the talent show were more confident in their talents and who they are.
I learned that others in our class really care about each other. They step up to each other’s problems. It surprised me how much people became passionate about others passions. I was amazed when we all said what we wanted to do that so many of them were the ones others had said. We listened carefully to each other’s passions and thought: “hey, that makes me care about that issue!”
Some people in the Mark Twain community do not give back. This was on my list of responsibilities. When others give to me (metaphorically) I believe in giving back. Our class went and supported all of the other exhibitions, donated to all of the founds, and we got barely anything in return. We got about 9 classes’ worth of goods out of 35. St. Georges, however, gave lots of goods, and we gave them no bribe. Before we got the 9 classes, we had to set a bribe.
I enjoyed the Ronald McDonald issue the best. I thought that it would be wonderful to help cancer patients and children/families in need. I enjoyed going around the building and seeing how they help cancer patients.
The PPCD trip was my favorite action we took. I was glad to see how much they enjoyed and learned during the visit. I feel like we brightened their day and made an impact in their lives by showing we care.

Time Mgmt., Sleep

We all made pages with tips for timr mgmt. I thought mine was pretty good. I used tips that I found helpful that can help others. Some pages, however, were not good. Some people just did it to do it. They will not have their pages in the book, which I think is good.(not that I'm trying to be mean...)

Wow! What a journey so far! We have been in crunch time and getting tons done!

The PPCD kids looooved our activities that we brought. They had a wonderful time painting and counting and playing. It was lots of fun to help them learn and play.
For the talent show, we have been preparing for the show. I am excited to announce! Hala and I are both ready to dress up and do great! I made a trophy for the winner of the show, bur after a 30 minute trip to the emergency room, the statue still fell apart at school.
I wasn't in yesterday to work on the ADD/ADHD/Dyslexia play, but i'm sure that it is A-W-E-S-O-M-E!

I can't wait to present all thet we have been working on together!

Reflection

We were supposed to reflect on what we've done so far, but I kind of did it on Friday on that reflection. I will reflect on what we have done since Friday. (it's more than you'd think. We have pretty much dedicated our days to working on exhibition.)

On Sunday, I went to the Challenger league game. It was lots of fun to see those kids trying so hard and doing so well.

Then, on Monday, we went to talk tho Mrs.Gunter. She was sooooo excited that we were coming. She said that they were learning about the ocean. We split into groups and worked on cool activities for the kids. They will love it! Those little kids are so cute!

During that time, I researched autism. I learned about all of the affects of autism on kids. It helped me understand much more about the disease. I had always kind of known what it was, but now I understand it better. I had fun designing a brochure.

On Monday, we also had the much - anticipated talent show. I liked judging, even though I feel bad. (I judged waaay to easy....) I thought that we had some really talented auditionees.

Today, we did "math" by finding averages of talent show scores. Some of them were brought down A LOT by tough judges. I thought it was fun to discuss the scores. We then worked some more of PPCD things. I finished my brochure and added autism. I also went down to announce the talent show winners.(pressure!!!) I was surprised at how much people stressed about it! Apparently, parents were calling to get their kid's scores! (talk about pushy!)

Reflection On Progress

Recently, for exhibition, we have been working very hard as a class to get work done.

I am excited for the talent show! I will be a judge in the auditions. I don’t really know how much money we will raise, but I am hoping it is a lot! I know that if the bake sale was during the show, we would both loose money, so I am glad it is during the auditions.

Yesterday we talked about bullying. Working in pairs, we got tons of note facts that we will use to make a handbook. I thought that what we found was very interesting and useful. We will definitely leave a leave a legacy with H.E.L.P. We discussed the learner profile and how each value fit in to important qualities. I thought this was interesting because I had never thought hard about the learner profile like that before. I realized the true meaning of them and how they fir in to everyday life.

Tommy and I wrote a letter to other IB schools about the Ronald McDonald House. They agreed to help get donations of breakfast foods. Today we found out that one school already has a donation box out. I think that this will really benefit cancer patients and I am very glad.

Challenger league is only 2 days away and I am excited to cheer them on! We will make posters today to wave at the game. I think that it is amazing that those kids have the initiative to go out and play. I can’t wait to go see the game.

I am really glad that we can help out in PPCD class. We found out that most of the kids have autism or Down syndrome. Mrs. Gunter is excited for us to come and I hope the kids are too. I wonder what we will do in there with them…

Sleep and Time management are very important to me. I have some great tips and stories to help the community. I am excited to see all of the great tips that we get and to see them in a book.

The play we are doing on AD(H)D and dyslexia has little progress so far. I think that it will be great when we get to it….

For being fit we will get pictures of people excersising. It is no "get fit" clinic, but I think that it will really encourage kids to excersise more!

We met with the mentors on Wednesday. I am glad that they are impressed. I was worried that they would think that are topics had been “done and done again”. I hope that we will be able to meet with them more and get lots of advice and help.

My passions for actions

The 2 actions that were most important to me is RM House and being fit.

I think that RM House is important to me is because it is helping others. These people are less fortunate than us, and they need our help. It was also one of my responsibilities,to give back to the community.

Being fit is important to me because if the clinic. I can help others find who they are and what they love to do. It woult be fun to inform others and teach them the importance of being fit.

Reflection on May 5th

I am thrilled that today we figured out our topics! We realized what we really are about. I think that we kind of knew deep down this whole time. We realized that we were all about helping each other. We discussed all of the issues and how we would do all of them. I think that it is a great idea for our class to do many things. This way, we all can showcase our amazing talents trough our action phase. It is great that we are doing this as a class. We all understand each other so well and we work well together. I can't wait to get started on action!
